Our Innkeeper

Welcome to A Riverhouse Lodge!
My name is Amelia and I love being the Innkeeper at A Riverhouse Lodge. I am originally from Wisconsin, but have been in the Arkansas Valley on and off for a few years now. I am also a dog trainer, and my pup Silas and I live on-site to assist guests with any needs that arise during your stay. I am happy to give recommendations about local hikes, hot springs, and restaurants!

I also have played sports since I was a young child, so of course I’ m a fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Denver Broncos. I love the outdoors, especially if it has to do with water. I have hiked a few 14ers, including Mt. Sherman and Mt. Democrat.
I also spend much of the summer tending to all of the beautiful flowers on our property. I was introduced to the love of gardening by my dad, he owned a landscaping business and I learned much from him.
I have had many jobs in my life, from being a Recreation Director, to teaching kids to drive, and also as an elementary school teacher. However, one job that had always been on my bucket list was to be an Innkeeper. My grandparents taught me about hospitality and making sure those around me feel at home.
I love my job and my life here in Buena Vista. I’m very social and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay at A Riverhouse Lodge.
