Buena Vista Lodge FAQ's

Below we answer Buena Vista Lodging FAQs. Feel free to reach out to us if you don’t find the answer to your question below.

Check-in is anytime after 4 pm, and check-out is 11 am. Check in and check out are both contact-less for your convenience.

Turn off of HWY 24/285 into the parking lot at The Adventure Company, which is part of our facility.
If you are looking at The Adventure Company, take the driveway on the right side of the building. As you pass the building, keep right, and follow the dark brown fence to your right. Straight ahead you will see A Riverhouse Lodge. If you have any questions, please call the office at 719-395-6494.

If you are staying in Cozy Nest or Arkansas rooms on the first floor, you can access your rooms via the door on the right side of the building – off the lawn and patio.

If you are staying in Rock View or Yale rooms on the second floor, you can access your rooms from the front door of the building on the porch. You will need to go through the Columbine Sitting Room to get to your room.

If you are staying in Princeton or Trout Creek on the third floor, please use the front door and go up the stairs inside to get to the third floor where you will find your room.

Early check-ins and late check-outs are difficult to balance due to the interruption to our cleaning schedule and our high standards for cleaning. If we can accommodate an early check-in, guests  will be charged $10 per hour, and we cannot allow guests to check-in before 2 pm. Late check-outs will cost $20 per hour, and we cannot allow check outs after 12 pm. All early check-ins and late check-outs must be approved by our office prior to arrival and are limited to 2 rooms per day.

We require at least 10 days notice for cancellations. Cancelations outside of 10 days will receive a full refund less $20 for the first room and night, and an additional $10 per room per night after that. Cancellations within 10 days prior to the departure date will not receive a refund. We are a small family-owned lodge, and it is often difficult to rebook rooms in a short period of time.

Guests are responsible for any damages incurred during their stay. Holds may be put on credit cards while damages are assessed. A fair and accurate appraisal will be charged.

We are approximately 2 miles from downtown Buena Vista.

There are two restaurant options within walking distance. For more variety, you will want to consider driving the short distance into town.

We are fortunate enough to have 2 local hot springs close by. Mt. Princeton Resort is located 15 minutes south of us and Cottonwood Hot Springs is about 8 miles west at the base of Cottonwood Pass. If you need directions we have them printed out for your convenience, so don’t hesitate to ask.

As dog lovers ourselves, we do accept most pets. However, we must ensure all our guests have an enjoyable experience, so we do ask pet owners to respect the following:

  • Pets are not to be left alone in guest rooms
  • Please clean up after your pet
  • Pets are not allowed in the kitchen or indoor common area
  • There will be an additional pet fee per night as we do deep clean our rooms after each stay
  • We must think of the experience of all our guests, so we reserve the right to be selective in which pets we accept

We do! Your innkeeper will place a basket of breakfast items outside your door each evening. Feel free to enjoy breakfast in the privacy of your own room or have your coffee and muffin while sitting next to the river in the early morning sunshine. We provide homemade muffins, fresh fruit and granola bars. There is also yogurt and bottled water in your room refrigerator.

Yes! Located on the bottom floor of the lodge, the kitchen is open to all of our guests. It is fully stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. You are also more than welcome to use the communal fridge.

Please note, we have quite hours between 10pm and 6am, please do not use the kitchen to cook meals during those hours. In addition, we ask that you clean up after yourself and be sure to leave the kitchen the way that you found it.

No bikes or recreational equipment are allowed inside the lodge or in your room. If you decide to bring these items, please bring a lock and secure outside the lodge.
